Omaha .NET User Group January Meeting
Fellow .NET Users,
Welcome to 2020! We have a year full of opportunities to learn and network with your community of .NET developers. I really can't overstate how excited I am. For the first time in our User Group's history, we have an entire year planned in advance. Every month has a sponsor, host and most importantly, a speaker! Our community is as strong as its ever been and we're going to take advantage of the opportunity to try some new things this year. Be sure to stay connected via our web site and Slack.
We also have a special meeting happening on March 11th featuring Carl Franklin from the .NET Rocks podcast. You can find more details about that here. Richard and Carl visited Omaha in 2012 and were frankly blown away by the reception. We had more than 200 people join us at that event and I'm looking forward to making this one even better! Please make sure to clear your calendar on March 11th so you can join us for this free event. For more information, check out the event page at https://omahamtg.com/Event/Details/1283.
For our "January" meeting (being held in February), I will be presenting on my experience building software. It is the product of 20 years of being paid to produce software and contains as many tips, tricks, and tidbits as I can fit into the time allotted. I hope to see you there! Our sponsor, Kiewit, has added an incentive for you to come in the form of a few giveaway prizes. At the end of the presentation, we'll be giving away 2 $50 Amazon gift cards and a Nintendo Switch! We'll also be giving away a few of the new Omaha .NET t-shirts. Finally, the meeting is being held at Kiewit's University location which has a cafeteria where they'll be serving dinner.
Now, onto the details for our first meeting of 2020. The next .NET User Group meeting will take place on Thursday, February 6th, starting at 6:00 PM. PLEASE NOTE: This is a week later than our regularly scheduled meetings since our host was not available until then. Food and drink will be served by our sponsor starting 15-20 minutes before the meeting. After the meeting, please join us at Rocco’s Pizza, 1302 Mike Fahey St for more appetizers, drinks, and conversations provided by our friends at Harbinger Partners.

Topic:
Using Roslyn Analyzers to Make Software Bulletproof
We see it happen all the time, a software system starts off on solid ground, but as the volume of the system increases, it starts to collapse under its own weight. Even when a system starts with a good architecture, designed to handle extensibility, developers who are focused on getting work done instead of quality can take down the architectural guardrails. In this presentation, we'll talk about creating software that protects itself and the original intentions of an architect by using Roslyn Code Analyzers. We'll also discuss a few other tips and tricks for keeping your systems alive and well for many years or decades into the future.
