Omaha .NET User Group May Meeting
Fellow .NET Users,
I'm a little behind schedule for this month, so I'm going to make the intro simple by listing a couple of community announcements:
- HDC call for speakers is open. I would love to see some .NET related topics submitted to the conference from this group.
- DevOps Bootcamp is coming up. If you're interested in learning about DevOps and putting your skills to the test with other DevOps professionals, you should definitely sign up to attend!
The next .NET User's Group meeting will take place on Thursday, May 30th starting at 6:00 PM. Food and drinks will be served starting 15-20 minutes before the meeting begins.
After the meeting, our friends at Harbinger Partners will be buying drinks and appetizers for us at Stokes 13615 California St.
Location:
C&A Plaza, 13609 California Street
Webster Suite (second floor through the back doors and to the left - you can use the stairs or elevator)
Park in the visitor parking, or feel free to park anywhere in the parking lot.
Topic:
Xbox development at a glance
Dustin Horne and Eric Peters have both had various excursions into Xbox game-like development, but from quite different perspectives. Eric, from more of an academic/scientific perspective, and Dustin from more of a high-level tooling and architecture perspective. They will share their unique perspectives as they apply to developing under Microsoft's widely-available Xbox Live Creators program targeting the Xbox.
Presenters:
Dustin Horne is a developer with experience in consulting and leadership roles, most recently as a Squad Lead at Spreetail. He is a dynamic developer with a background in architecture, backend, and frontend development. Dustin has developed a popular Unity asset which has been widely used development projects across all platforms and in titles such as Pokemon, The Long Dark, and Google's Poly API. When not on the job he enjoys time with his family and friends, with a particular appreciation of taking Eric's money in poker.
Eric Peters is a developer with experiences primarily in startups and consulting roles. His current role is as the Director of IT at SportsSense, a Nashville, TN based startup, where he supports development of technology products focused on measuring the cognitive "intangibles" of professional and amateur athletes. Eric has developed several academic and commercial applications using DirectX and UWP targeting Desktop and Xbox platforms. He spends his free-time with his family, and aspires to become a woodworker (but really just likes buying more tools).
