Fellow .Net Users,

Welcome to 2017! It’s hard to believe that our break is done and we’re back at our regular meeting schedule, but I’m excited about what we’re going to be doing this year. We have all of our meetings sponsored, our speakers are lined up through the first few months and of course there’s no lack of new things to learn! Our community is filled with amazing .Net developers and I'm sincerely looking forward to learning what everyone is planning to do this year.

The first meeting of 2017 will take place on Thursday January 26th starting at 6:00 PM. Food and drink will be served by our sponsor starting 15-20 minutes before the presentation starts.

Location:
Farm Credit Services of America

Topic:
A brief journey to Microsoft Intellitest.
The desire for writing and maintaining unit testing by software development professionals is clear and growing. In an effort to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of testing tools, we will take a look at Microsoft's "new" IntelliTest testing tool.

You will see a demonstration of IntelliTest using Visual Studio 2017 (RC), NuGet 4.0 (RC), MsTest v2 (preview), and C# 7.0 (RC). The numerous new and updated features of these components should be interesting to the .NET community, and we'll cover several demonstrations of IntelliTest features.

Speaker:
Eric Peters received a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Indiana University which he holds dear, in spite of being commonly mistaken for a Librarian. His experience comes from consulting and several failed startups, where academia and technical formality takes a back-seat to pragmatism. Currently, he is employed by Sogeti Omaha, where he strives to develop superb quality software as part of one of Omaha's finest consulting teams. His technical passions include testing and security, and is an avid C# and TypeScript developer who aspires to mentor and develop younger professionals.

Personally, Eric was raised in Blair, NE. After a far-too-long hiatus in Indiana, he recently returned home to Nebraska, where he accidentially rekindled a romance and married his high-school sweetheart and raison d'etre. The two of them reside in Omaha with their two lovely daughters and one smelly dog. His hobbies include motorcycles, poker, and electronics; in none of which will he ever go pro.
