**Fellow .Net Users,

**

I wanted to take a moment to once again thank our speakers from last month’s meeting.  I really thought everyone did a great job.

Kyle Kolander – GetValueOrDefault

Matt Barr - Dynamic ViewModels

Jay Harlow - 15 minute introduction to F#

Brian Olson - Auto Mapper

Matt Ruwe - .Net Micro Framework

I also didn’t get a chance to thank Adam Barney for volunteering and preparing a presentation.  He was, unfortunately, unable to make it from Lincoln due to the snow on that night.  Speaking of Lincoln, the Lincoln .Net user group is hosting a Code Camp on April 9th.  If you’re interested in speaking at this event, the topic submission closes on the 18th, so don’t delay!

For our next meeting, we welcome back our longtime friend, Jeff Brand from Microsoft, who will be presenting on the new parallel programming features included in the .Net 4.0 framework.

Our next .NET Users Group meeting will be held on Thursday, March 24th, at 6:00pm (food will be provided 15 to 20 minutes prior to the start of the meeting).  Yes, the date is correct.  This month’s meeting is being held one week early due to scheduling conflicts.

**Intro to Parallel Programming

This session will introduce the core concepts around using the Task Parallel Library introduced in .NET 4.0.  Starting off with a discussion of why we need parallel programming, the session will move into examples of using the TPL.  Demos will include a comparison of TPL vs. traditional threading, new language structures, and LINQ.  Attendees will leave with a firm understanding of TPL, where it can be used, and where to start to learn more about parallel programming.
