Speaker:

Brian Noyes, Chief Architect at IDesign, Microsoft Regional Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region, and a Connected Systems MVP http://www.briannoyes.net Topic:

Exercise WCF Best Practices Overview:

WCF is a powerful and flexible framework for building service oriented applications. However, with power and flexibility comes a fair amount of complexity. Figuring out the right options and capabilities of WCF to leverage for a given scenario can be a challenge. This session will walk you through a collection of best practices (with their associated context) that will help you be more successful and effective when using WCF. You will learn about patterns and practices for service contracts, data contracts, binding selection, exception management, instance models, hosting, and managing client side proxies. You will get guidance on when to use which option as well as see and get concrete sample of employing those patterns. This session assumes a passing familiarity with the broad concepts of WCF, and is appropriate for those new to WCF as well as those who have been using it for a while.
