Topic:
Spec-Driven Development with AI Agents by Matt Ruwe
Coding agents write code fast, but they forget, they guess, and they aim for green. This talk shows a spec-driven process that keeps them honest. It starts with an interview that builds the spec, and the plan, code, tests and deployment are built in layers on top of it. Several agents work at once, each in its own git worktree with its own .NET Aspire stack. Every example is real, mistakes included.
What you'll take away:
- How to turn what your users need into rules precise enough to test, so agents build what they asked for instead of guessing
- How to use fresh agents to find gaps and contradictions in a spec before your customers find them as bugs
- How to write tests from the spec, so a green build means the software does what you promised your users
- How to run several agents side by side, so you can deliver more of what customers are waiting for without the agents tripping over each other
- How to prove a database migration on a copy of production, so a release doesn't take down the system your customers depend on
