Omaha .NET User Group July Meeting
Hey everyone! It's been a few months since I've been able to attend a User Group meeting and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. In addition, our topic for this month is something I always love hearing about. I suspect that Sam will teach you something new that you can apply to your day-to-day work. Canon in F#: An Introduction To Functional Programming In .NET by Samantha Hughes
In this presentation, Sam will give a gentle introduction to the world of F#, a functional-first programming language that is part of the .NET ecosystem. The presentation will begin with a brief overview of functional programming principles and F# syntax. Then, it will move on to discuss key features of F# such as immutability, pattern matching, higher-order functions, and what differentiates it from a standard imperative language like C#. We will end the session with a code demonstration of Blackjack in F#.

Sam is a software development lead at Kiewit where she is working an application to manage construction commodities. Sam has been programming for 8 years and thrives in environments where innovation and agility are paramount.
