Omaha .NET User Group July Meeting
Fellow .NET Users,
Thanks to everyone who was able to join us for our June meeting and to Sunil for his informative presentation on event sourcing in .NET. I also appreciate your patience as we dealt with some issues on our web site recently. Our certificate expired, but it turned out to be a good excuse to get the site and database migrated from our existing provider into Azure. This opens a lot of new capabilities for us and hopefully you'll be seeing those in the coming months.
For our July meeting, we get to learn about running .NET on Serverless compute platforms in Azure and AWS. Serverless hosting has the potential to reduce your cloud spend tremendously as your web assets scale infinitely up and down. I hope you'll be able to join us for what I'm sure will be a great meeting!
The next .NET UG meeting will take place on Thursday, July 27th, starting at 6:00 PM. Food and drinks will be provided by our sponsor 15-20 minute before the meeting begins. After that Ryan will be giving a 60-90 min presentation (see below). We'll do the prize giveaways at the end of the meeting.
Host:Farm Credit Services of America
5015 S 118th St, Omaha, NE 68137
Topic:
Serverless Triggers and You by Ryan Ebke
Join us as we review various types of Serverless triggers beyond just HTTP and how they can be used by your existing tools to leverage highly scalable resources for several dynamic workload scenarios. We’ll focus primarily on Azure Functions but will reference the corresponding AWS Lambda terms/components where possible.
Speakers:Ryan Ebke
Ryan Ebke is an Omaha-based technology leader with deep roots in .NET and e-commerce engineering, and a Computer Science degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He's built his career at some of Nebraska's best-known tech companies — including Spreetail, one of the region's largest e-commerce businesses, and Speedway Motors, where he rose from web developer to Director of Product & Technology, leading the team behind a custom .NET commerce platform on AWS. Today he's Director of Engineering at Cordova Solutions, where he leads technical strategy across client engagements and the firm's internal AI enablement; his recent work has been in Node and TypeScript on AWS. A practitioner at heart, Ryan focuses on making AI genuinely useful in day-to-day engineering.
Sponsors:Cordova
Cordova Enterprises is an Omaha-based IT staffing, software and AI development firm built to solve two problems that every growing tech team faces: finding the right talent and delivering on time.
On the staffing side, we specialize in placing developers and other IT professionals across the Midwest and beyond. Whether you're a company looking for your next senior C# engineer or a .NET developer ready for your next opportunity, we work both sides of that equation. If we're filling a role that's a fit for someone in this community, you'll hear about it.
We're proud to sponsor the Omaha .NET User Group because this community is exactly who we're here to serve — developers who take their craft seriously and companies who need them.
