Omaha .NET User Group April Meeting
Fellow .NET Users,
Many thanks to those of you who were flexible with last minute changes last month. Even though we had to change our venue about 4 hours before the meeting started, many of you still attended, and Jim gave a great presentation! This month your in for another treat. Our very own Brian Olson will be talking about the work he's been doing with Docker lately. This will be a great presentation for anyone who is interested in learning more about how to leverage containers in your environment.
Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, April 28th, starting at 6:00 PM. Food will be served by our sponsor, Harbinger Partners, starting 15-20 minutes before the meeting begins. Our sponsor for this meeting will be giving away 2 $50 gift cards and 2 $25 gift cards. They'll also have swag available for everyone who attends. I hope you'll be able to join us for what I'm sure will be an awesome meeting.

Topic:
Containers in Azure by Brian Olson
When I first started development, the phrase "It works on my machine" was common. It was not unusual to work for months on an application, deploy it to production or on users machines only to realize you forgot to include a critical dependency in that deployment. This is one of the features containers promise to solve. But, this extra power also comes with responsibilities. Building containers and deploying containers requires additional skills for us to learn.
In this presentation, we will look at what it takes to build a .NET application into a container. We will then demonstrate using GitHub Actions to automate the building of that application and container. Finally we will dig into 2 Azure options for deploying that container.
