Omaha .NET User Group June Meeting
Fellow .NET Users,
We're proud of the fact that despite a global pandemic and unprecedented social distancing policies, we have continued to meet virtually over the past 15 months. However, the user group is not designed to operate this way. There's just something about being together that makes communication better. We've been waiting for the right time to restart our in-person meetings, it's finally time to get back together! Farm Credit Services of America has invited us to meet together for this month's meeting in their facilities. We will also plan to live-stream the event for those who are not comfortable in this kind of environment.
The next .NET UG meeting will take place on Thursday, June 24th, starting at 6:00 PM. Our sponsor will be providing food and drinks for all of those in attendance, so please make sure to RSVP if you plan to attend.

WebAssembly - Not Only Web, and Not Assembly by Brian Olson
WebAssembly is growing in popularity. Microsoft and .NET have embraced it with Blazor - the Web framework that allows you to write browser applications using your favorite .NET languages. But what is behind Blazor?
One of the major aspects of WebAssembly is its sandbox model. This sandbox is what enables you to run any workload safely and securely, but it also imposes restrictions on what you can do. We will look at how software runs inside this sandbox, the limitations of the sandbox, and how code inside that sandbox interacts with the outside world.
Along the way we will explore WebAssembly using Rust, C# and AssemblyScript. We will take a look at the Web Assembly Text (WAT) language – a plain text representation of WebAssembly.
Finally, one of the most fascinating aspects of WebAssembly is all the uses it has beyond the browser. We will look at how the WebAssembly sandbox and language independence makes it an attractive tool for IoT devices and Serverless computing.
Join us as we dig into this new tool and discover why it is Not Only Web, and Not Assembly.
