Omaha .NET User Group November/December Meeting
Fellow .NET Users,
We've made it to the last meeting of 2018! Before we get into the details about that, I have a few announcements for you.
First, we're in the process of rewriting the OmahaMTG website, and as you might have noticed, we're a bit sparse on graphics around here. In an effort to make the new site a bit more aesthetically pleasing, we have created a contest to design a new logo for the Omaha .NET User's Group. If you are graphically talented or know someone who is, we would ask you to please try your hand at making a logo for us. Oh, and did I mention that we're giving away $100 in cold hard cash to the winner? Please let us know if you have any questions and submit your entries here:

Second, our sponsorship drive was an amazing success! We had the entire year sponsored in less than 4 hours. At the beginning of the new year, I'll introduce you to our 2019 sponsors, but until then, please know that I'm am humbled by the level of support that our community has for this group. Our sponsors and hosts form 1/3 of the core that holds this group together. The other two thirds are our speakers and, of course, you, our members! Thank you so very much for supporting this group.
Finally, we have a few local conferences to know about. First, a new conference being put together called Connectaha. You can find details here. In addition, the Nebraska Code conference is back in Lincoln this year. Details about this conference can be found here.
Ok, now that we've got all of that out of the way, on with the meeting announcement. This month’s .NET User’s Group meeting will take place on Thursday, December 6th, starting at 6:00 PM. Food and drink will be served by our sponsor starting 15-20 minutes before the meeting.
Also, our friends at Harbinger Partners continue to support us by buying a few rounds and appetizers after the meeting. We'll be meeting at Pitch Pizzeria after the meeting. I hope to see you there. https://goo.gl/maps/sGq9a8vnzd52

Speaker:
Marcus Kern has more than 9 years programming and application development experience in the Microsoft stack. He also has programming experience in C++, cloud services, Linux, MAC OS X, and IOS Applications.
His passion is technology and his joy is solving problems. He solves problems by using a unique thought process combining creativity, ingenuity, quickly navigating decision trees and not stopping at the first solution that presents itself. He is a F.U.N. person, and he strongly believes that you truly don’t know something until you can successfully teach it.
Topic:
How to add facial recognition to any .NET app
In this presentation we will walk through the concepts and processes required to "Register" People into Microsoft's Azure Cognitive Services Face API through a custom Desktop Application created to demonstrate the required interfaces to various services and devices needed.
You’ll learn how to structure the interfaces between the Webcam, Database, and FaceAPI. We will discuss the various options you have for each, and some of the "gotchas" associated with the method and security around facial recognition.
We will develop a client library for use in many application types including ASP.NET, giving you a method to install MFA in a web app. This might sounds funny, but we will go over how this is possible, and why you shouldn't do it.
As a bonus, the code will be made available to you via GitHub, and as apart of that you'll receive a secure integration of KeePass 2.38 for key and secure storage. If time allows we will go over this Keepass implementation and why it’s important.
