Topic 1:
Stop putting it off, lets finally learn how to write Regular Expressions
Regular expressions are an extremely powerful tool for quickly refactoring code and doing repetitive tasks. Most developers can’t tell the difference between a regular expression and hieroglyphics. In this presentation we will learn the basics of regular expressions and how you can use them to speed up your daily development workflow.

Speaker 1:
Sam Kirkland is a full-stack Software Developer with over 6 years of experience who has focused on .NET & Javascript frameworks. He currently works for Buildertrend on their code health/architecture team refactoring code.

Topic 2:
Machine Learning with ML.NET
At Build 2018, Microsoft introduced ML.NET. The goal of this project is to allow developers to build their own models for machine learning without prior knowledge or expertise in developing and tuning ML models, all while utilizing the .NET framework. It is important to note that this framework is in prerelease (currently on version 0.3) and is going through major API revisions. We will dig into a few different types of predictors as well as real world applications for how they can be utilized.

Speaker 2:
Dan Drews is a full-stack .net developer with 5 years of experience. His focus has been in ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, javascript, knockout, and SQL. Dan has spent the past 4 years at Buildertrend and is a Lead Applications Developer responsible for attacking technical debt on the code health team. Previously at Buildertrend, Dan built out an integration for builders to receive payments from owners as well as pay subsub-contractors, and lead the team that deals with all financial integrations. He enjoys playing video games, working on side projects to learn new technologies, and spending time with his wife.

Sponsor:
Buildertrend was founded in 2006 as a result of a simple observation: residential construction companies needed a user-friendly, cloud-based software to help them build more projects, build them faster, reduce errors and maximize customer satisfaction.

Our system has expanded and become the most widely used cloud-based system in residential construction, along with our company expanding to over 350 employees. Our 110,000 sq-ft. headquarters, located on our 14 acre campus in Omaha, NE was designed with employee satisfaction as the #1 priority. We’re proud to have built a team environment where hard work is rewarded! Our state of the art facilities include two fitness rooms, as well as employee break areas equipped with ping pong tables, video game nooks, pool tables, putting greens and soda fountains … just to name a few. Every Friday afternoon, the entire team is treated to free lunch from great Omaha restaurants, where we get to build relationships far deeper than just “co-workers.”

We take pride in having one of the top Engineering teams in the city! Our team of full stack developers enjoys solving tough problems using the Microsoft tech stack. Our team is always growing and we are always excited to have conversations with industry leaders.

Giveaways: Buildertrend is giving away $400 in Amazon Gift Cards. Yeah, you heard right … $400! You won’t want to miss this event. It will be full of useful content and ca$h!
