Fellow .Net Users,

This month’s .Net UG meeting is right on the heels of May’s meeting. We’re detouring from our normal schedule because we have the opportunity to have a national speaker at the group. It also means that all of you who haven't come to a meeting recently because our meetings are on Thursdays have lost your excuse! ;-) Our next .Net User’s Group meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 16th starting at 6:00 PM. Food and drink will be served by our sponsor starting 15-20 minutes before the start of the meeting.

If you haven't had a chance to explore the new site yet, please poke around and see if you find anything interesting. I would like to specifically point out the discussion area at the bottom of this posting. Feel free to chat about the topic, location, sponsor, technology, the new site, etc. We hope this will be a great way for the community to come together.

Another feature worth pointing out is that our videos are now integrated with our previous events. As always, you can go directly to Vimeo and see all of the postings that we've made. Also, take a moment to thank our video editor Joseph Forsythe for the awesome work that he has done putting these together. Thanks Joseph!

Topic
Migrating from JavaScript to TypeScript
TypeScript continues to gain momentum but is it right for you and your applications? In this talk, Dan Wahlin will introduce the TypeScript language and show the process of converting JavaScript (ES5) code to TypeScript in an Angular application. Along the way you’ll see several key benefits that TypeScript offers such as cleaner code, the ability to leverage ES6 features today, and how you can detect issues more easily by using static types. If you’ve been curious about TypeScript but have been too busy to look into it more then this talk will definitely help get you started.
