Fellow .Net users, I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.  Now that 2012 is upon us, we’re going to revert our focus back to community and learning.  With that, I’m glad to announce our first meeting of the year.  Our next .Net Users Group meeting will take place on January 26th, starting at 6:00 PM.  Food and refreshments will be served around 5:45 PM. Meeting Details: Location:

Farm Credit Services (held in the North building - same as last meeting)

http://binged.it/tXAMb3 We will start the new year off with something new for the user group.  Instead of having a presentation as we typically do, we’ve coordinated two sponsors to bring the first ever Code Challenge meeting!  At this meeting, we’ll be taking advantage of our new Code Challenge platform to put on a friendly competition.  Oh and I shouldn’t forget to mention that we will have $650 in cash prizes (in the form of Amazon gift certificates) to give away at the meeting in addition to our regular stash of t-shirts, books, hardware, and software. How will this work?  We’ve put together a relatively simple code challenge that should be solvable within a 2 hour timeframe.  The night of the meeting starting around 6:00 PM we will announce the goal of the challenge.  At that point, you will have two hours to solve the challenge to the best of your abilities.  At the end of the challenge, the winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded.  We will have 3 primary prizes for 1st ($250), 2nd ($150) and 3rd ($100).  We will also have 3 $50 participation awards that we will randomly give to others who participated.  People will be allowed to work in whatever configuration they feel works best (i.e. individual or teams).  If people decide to work in teams, any prize money earned will be evenly split between each member of the team (must be present to win).  We will also have enough space so that teams can work in a private environment. To participate, you will need to bring a laptop that has Wi-Fi capabilities and is capable of running Visual Studio 2010.  If you don’t have a copy of Visual Studio, you can download the free Express edition (http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/express).  If you don’t have a laptop, let me know and we’ll try to find one for you to use.  Also, if you have an extra laptop that you are willing to loan out for the duration of the meeting, please let me know.
