Topic: Understanding Efficient Locking and Concurrency for maximum performance Abstract: Understanding the SQL Server locking model is vital to efficient and scalable performance in SQL Server. This interactive and demo driven session explains and demonstrates the basic and deep concepts in Locking and Concurrency. You will learn basic and advanced concepts such as Lock Concurrency, Lock compatibility, Isolation Levels, Lock Escalation and other locking and performance related concepts. You will also get to see the effects of indexing on locking and how to use efficient indexing strategies for optimal locking performance. Presenter Bio: Sudhir Gajre is a Principal Technologist with Microsoft. He has authored whitepapers on core engine tuning and performance and is a frequent speaker at conferences, SQL Saturdays, and SQL User Groups. His expertise is predominantly in architecting, designing, and tuning highly scalable and highly available mission critical OLTP database systems. He is experienced in locking and the core engine internals.
