Intro to SharePoint 2013 App Development
“Setting up shop inthe Napa Valley!”Most SharePoint Developers are used to building server-side solutions that extend the capabilities of SharePoint and deploying them to the farm.  Because code is deployed at the farm level, it can be cumbersome to develop and deploy applications.  SharePoint 2013 offers a new flexible development model.  In SharePoint 2013, you can take advantage of standard web technologies, such as JavaScript, OAuth, and OData. Not only can you develop apps that are developed and deployed on servers hosted in house, SharePoint 2013 has been optimized for creating applications that take advantage of SharePoint capabilities that run in the cloud instead of your farm.  Because SharePoint 2013 and Office are in the same family now, Office 365 Development extends the capabilities even further by allowing you to create Mail Apps for Outlook or Content Apps for Excel.

In this month’s meeting, David Petersen will introduce App development in SharePoint 2013. You’ll learn how to set up a development environment, get access to cloud resources and develop a simple app using the “Napa” Office 365 Development Tools.Presenter:
